Rocks and Flowers...
Two things which can enhance any reading are recommendations for crystals and flower essences.
Crystals have been used for a very long time by Indian astrologers, who usually make recommendations for high-quality gem stones as a means of moderating the effects of difficult planets. In the West, we have also used crystals for a long time, although not in the same way. More recently, we have come to see the value in crystals, gemstones, and even simple rocks as a way of influencing our energy fields.
We have developed a system of correspondence between crystals and emotional states. For example, it is generally agreed that Rose Quartz is a form of quartz crystal which is very good for relating to others, while Citrine is excellent for bolstering self confidence, and Amethyst is widely recommended for dealing with addictions of all kinds (among other things). There is a strong, if not always obvious, association of crystals with the planets and signs. For example, Amethyst is associated with Pisces, and Citrine with Leo and the sun.
Having a crystal around helps to focus your energy in a particular direction. Say your Venus, planet of love and relationship, is in a difficult aspect in your astrological chart. It might help to have some rose quartz around, as this crystal helps in Venusian areas, in effect strengthening your Venus.
You dont need to break the bank to get a high-quality gemstone and have it mounted to wear as jewelry. Finding a stone that is attractive to you is the most important factor. Its in keeping with our culture that we are often attracted to gems in the rough, that is, in their natural form. I use mostly crystals which are in their rough form, or those which have been polished but not cut to a specific shape.
Its especially important to realize that the energetic value of the gem is not related to its economic value. A very nice piece of Amethyst would cost about $20, and I have a nice polished piece of Fluorite which I picked up for less than $5.
While you can mount gems and wear them as jewelry, if youre so inclined, there is no need to. Its enough to carry the crystal with you, in a pocket or handbag. I also think its a good idea to sleep near the crystals, and I usually keep them on the table beside my bed (some people put them under their pillow).
Crystals do need to be cleaned and charged, which are simple procedures that we can go over when we meet. I can do the initial cleaning and charging, or you can learn the procedure and do it yourself.
Crystal recommendations can be part of your consultation at no additional cost. I can obtain the crystals for you, if you like, and will pass them on to you at cost.
Flower Essences are a remedy that is related to homeopathy. Flowers are also associated with emotional states, and taking the flower essence helps to resolve emotional issues corresponding to the flower.
I was skeptical about flower essences at first, but I was going through a stressful period back in the late 90s, and I decided to give Bachs Rescue Remedy a try. To my utter amazement, this combination of flower essences worked as well, and quicker, for me than valium (I had given that a try, too). I had tried all sorts of herbal remedies for anxiety, including Valerian root, which just made me sleepy and gave my head a weird, stuffy feeling.
Intrigued by the success of Rescue Remedy, I started to experiment with other essences. While Rescue Remedy works very fast for immediate stresses (as the name implies), the other essences work more slowly, generally needing to be taken over the course of about a month.
The effects are not as dramatic as with Rescue Remedy, but they are as impressive. We couldnt expect, for example, that taking one dose of Wild Oat would be all you need to help you find career direction. But taken for four to six weeks, the essence seems to have the effect of dissolving the barriers to decision making that helps to put you on track. I find that with flower essences, you dont see the problem vanishing all at once, but one day you find that it simply isnt there anymore.
Traditional flower essence professionals determine your need for the essences through conversation alone. Since Im neither traditional nor a flower essence professional, I use a combination of our talking together with the information in the astrological chart to decide which essences would work best.
I think that the use of astrology as an additional means to making recommendations is an excellent help. The energies in the chart show potential areas that need to be strengthened, and when we discuss these we can see how they are manifesting in your life and which essences are most appropriate for you at this time.
