Monthly Forecast for September 2007
September is one busy month in the skies. Were in the midst of an eclipse cycle that began on August 28th, there are two planetary stations, and a number of hard aspects between the planets. Action is the word of the month, and September is great if need to get moving with projects of any type. The thing to be aware of is that action is likely to feel preferable to thinking things through, which of course can have consequences.
The first event of the month is a sign change, as Saturn leaves Leo for Virgo on the 2nd. After two years of haunting the home of the sun, the Lord of Time comes looking for the Virgins. While Saturn in Leo had us collectively questioning what we do for fun and doubting the legitimacy of kings, in Virgo he focuses on service and health. Just as a gentle reminder, when Saturn was last in Virgo the U.S. government reinstated registering with the Selective Service. Yikes.
The 3rd has all the firecracker potential of any day this month. Mercury is square to Pluto, making for some terse communication, while Mars is square to Uranus, pushing us into action without lots of time for reflection. The sun is also in square to Juptier, further pushing us into rash action. On top of all, its the last quarter moon, always an action point. These aspects happen to fall on Labor Day, which means we might avoid some problems at work, although these aspects will be felt for a day after. Be careful driving over the holiday weekend, and watch what you say and do. A Mars-Venus sextile indicates that this energy might be used constructively between romantic partners.
The 7th and 8th are busy days. First,Pluto stations on the 7th, another opportunity for tension and power struggles, this time falling during the work week. The days before and after will carry the Plutonian energy, so again watch for anger boiling over. On the 8th, Venus goes direct after 40 days of back-tracking through Virgo and Leo. We can now move forward with relationships and other Venusian activities (click here for the full scoop on Venus retrograde), although give the Goddess a few days to get up to speed and out of the glare of Plutos station.
The 9th has two more notable aspects. First, Mars is in a nice trine to Neptune. This can help put dreams and fantasies into action, helping to make your dreams come true. The sun also opposes Uranus on this day, which is yet another indicator of rash action on the downside. On the upside, this is a good day to break out of old patterns and try something new, maybe something youve been wishing for but havent believed was possible.
Theres a partial solar eclipse on the 11th. As always, eclipse times tend to amp-up the general level of attention and tension, and in fact this eclipse will put all the more energy into the aspects in the early part of the month. This eclipse fall at 18 degrees of Virgo, and will have its most significant effect for people who have planets at about 18 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces). Of course, solar eclipses are powerful new moons, and so what we feel is often not expressed right away.
The suns square to Mars on the 17th and his square to Pluto on the 19th make for two more days which are action oriented. Sun-Mars indicates a tension between our sense of ourselves and what we want or how we act (Im not the sort of person who gets angry, damnit!), while sun-Pluto tension is between our ego and our instincts. What all this means is that we might be faced with some truths about our less shiny happy sides. Between these two aspects, Mercury is making nice with Venus and Neptune, which should help us to communicate what were feeling. The 19th is also the day of the first quarter moon, which once again pushes us towards action. Good news if you need to get something done, as long as youve thought it out beforehand.
Believe it or not, two days later, on the 21st, there are again not one, but two, significant aspects. Mars opposes Pluto, a powerhouse aspect that will lead us to try to get what we want, and may lead to confrontations with those who hold the power. On the same day, Venus is opposed to Neptune, making us question what we really value. Another take on Venus-Neptune, especially in light of the Mars-Pluto aspect, is that we could wind up being taken in by something or someone that wont live up to the promise. The good side of the 21st will be apparent to anyone who is in the midst of an exciting artistic project or romance, as the possibilities will seem endless, and the energy to make them real will be at hand.
The sun moves into Libra on the 23rd at 5:51 a.m. Eastern time, marking the autumn equinox and signalling the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Since early September is so busy, its likely that summer will seem just a distant memory by this time anyway, although well have to see what the weather is like.
Finally, theres a bit of calm at the end of the month. Helpful aspects reign from the 24th through the 26th, featuring Mercury with Pluto and Mars. This should help us to go forward with things which began earlier in the month, refining and communicating our ideas.
The 26th is the September full moon, in early Aries. This moon paradoxically is in the sign of beginnings, while at the full it represents culminations. Use this day to get things done, accomplishing in the present while setting goals for the future.
The last celestial events for the month are sign changes. Mercury moves into Scorpio on the 27th, in preparation for his retrograde in a couple of weeks. Communication takes on a more reserved, protective, and emotional tone when the Messenger is in Scorptio. The next day, the 28th, Mars moves into Cancer. The Warrior isnt to happy in the sign of the crab. Think Kindergarten Cop. During his stay in Cancer, the tendency is to a sort of indirect action which can sometimes foster crankiness. Positively applied, it lead us to focus on our homes and families.
September is a busy month. Take some time to step back from all the action and decide where you really want to go and what you really want to do. Blind movement isnt a good idea, but focused efforts ought to work very well indeed.
